Yield and Yield Again

There are still some areas of this planet that are as yet not wanted or needed by the human race. Their very ruggedness, wetness, wildness or apparent uselessness is their conservation. I speak here of mountains, forests, shorelines and riverbanks that are as yet untouched by building interference.

Should we or any other animal wish to explore, journey through or enjoy these places for just what they are, they become patterned by desire lines. Mountain pass, forest lane, beach path and riverbank walks are created. These are all in harmony with the environment and they all have one other thing in common; they do not appear overnight.

As an individual you are free to choose your own way, your own desire line. The suggestions of others need not bind you. Once free of external restrictions there is no need for further deliberation - just follow instinct.

Some people may elect to not deviate from the main path. Their way will be relatively clear. Others may attempt to explore a little deeper. That’s OK as long as it is understood that things will be less clearly defined.

Whichever way you choose, make this way with determination - every day. The territory will become unfamiliar soon enough. You may have second thoughts and you may even become scared or question your ability for the task. But please don’t worry. Travel the same route every day and frequently ‘touch base' and you will eventually mark your own way with a unique footprint.

As you venture too and fro it is fully in order to stop occasionally, perhaps often; admire the scenery! But should you ever cease to take your journey - your path; your desire line will soon become overgrown, impassable or hidden and, eventually vanish. Therefore, whenever possible — practice every day.
